Youth Programs

The Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries is dedicated to providing quality religious, educational, and social programs for the youth and young adults of the Community of Saint George. The mission of this office is to strengthen and create new programs to help educate and inspire Orthodox youth and young adults, as well as the community at large.

The Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries oversees or assists in many different programs.

Altar Boys

This group is for the young men and boys in the community between the ages of 8 years old through seniors in high school. The boys are trained to serve in the Altar as attendants and assistants to the priest. Each August any new member is welcome to sign up to participate in this group. The altar boys will be meeting four times a year to better learn the functions of the Altar.

GOYA

The Greek Orthodox Youth of America is for grades seventh through twelfth. The mission of G.O.Y.A. is to lead our young people into experiencing the Orthodox Faith. We take what you learn in Sunday School and put it into practice. This is accomplished by visiting orphanages and nursing homes. Along with this experience the group also goes on trips to Boston and New York. The group also has elections each year to vote in a President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. We provide lunch at each meeting, which occurs once a month.

J.O.Y.

The Junior Orthodox Youth is for third through sixth grades. The mission of J.O.Y. is to bring the younger members of the church into an understanding of the Orthodox Faith. At the meetings, which are held once a month, dinner is provided, along with fun activities that educate the children. This group helps strengthen their faith in the church.

Hope

This group is for grades kindergarten through second. The main focus of this group is to slowly have the children get into the habit of attending a meeting with their parents once a month. We have more crafts and fun activities that we use to educate the children. Volunteers are greatly needed for all the youth groups.
